About our School
Our school is located at the Waite campus, the largest concentration of agricultural research and teaching expertise in the Southern Hemisphere.
We have more than 200 staff involved in research and teaching; 200 postgraduate students; and 700 undergraduate students enrolled in our degree programs.
A particular strength of our school is our ability to combine basic and enabling research, to deliver new options and opportunities for 'added value' agriculture, food and wine production.
Since our formation in 2003, we have responded to new opportunities to apply science and technology to heightened consumer expectations of food quality, together with the social and political responsibilities associated with sustainable environmental and economic development.
Established in 1924 and located at Urrbrae in Adelaide, South Australia, ‘The Waite’ is a co-located partnership of 15 complementary organisations and centres engaged in world-class Research and Development in plant, agricultural, food, wine and natural resources science.

Studying at the Waite means our students benefit from our co-location with related campus partners such as the CSIRO, SARDI and the Australian Wine Research Institute. Close research partnerships also facilitate guest lectures, co-supervision and industry placements for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and graduate recruitment
By being exposed to the latest technologies and learning from leaders in their respective research fields, our graduates are able to enter the workforce with confidence and awareness of the latest research developments and are able to 'see the big picture'. More than 95% of our graduates are employed within 12 months of graduation!
