Workshop: Representation Theory and Operator Algebras

This interdisciplinary workshop will be about aspects of representation theory (in the sense of Harish-Chandra), aspects of noncommutative geometry (in the sense of Alain Connes) and aspects of operator K-theory (in the sense of Gennadi Kasparov).

Participant information

Venue

On all days except Wednesday, presentations will be given in the conference room on level 7 of the Ingkarni Wardli building. On Wednesday the 3rd, the talks will be in room 5.57, on the fifth floor of the same building. Higson's talks in the differential geometry seminar and the School colloquium on Friday will be in different rooms, to be announced later.

Registration

There will be no registration fees: all are welcome. However, if you are interested in attending, kindly send an e-mail to Peter Hochs by 5 June 2013, with the following information:

Please also indicate in your e-mail whether you would like to attend the workshop dinner (Thursday evening, 4th July), which will be $7 per person.

Funding

This event is co-sponsored by the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI). AMSI allocates a travel allowance to each of its member universities (for a list of members, click here). Students or Early Career Researchers from AMSI member universities without access to a suitable research grant or other source of funding may apply to their Head of Mathematical Sciences for subsidy of travel and accommodation out of the departmental travel allowance. No other funding is available.

Accommodation

Participants, other than the invited speakers, are asked to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
