Abstract: I introduce the categorical Hopf map as a categorical bundle over a two-dimensional sphere with the fibre categorical circle of Nora Ganter. My construction combines the basic bundle gerbe over a three-dimensional sphere and the classical Hopf map into a categorical bundle. I outline how we can interpret the categorical group String(3) as symmetries of the categorical Hopf map. I mention some motivations and applications of the categorical Hopf map.
