Online high school activities
Ingenuity 2021 gives you the chance to participate in free interactive activities from the comfort of your own classroom.
In 2021, our annual Ingenuity expo will be delivered both virtually as well as face-to-face at the Adelaide Convention Centre. As part of Ingenuity 2021, we are offering a range of hands-on activities in conjunction with the STEM Academy, delivered fully online with the ability to get hands-on in your very own classroom!
These activities will be run online starting on Wednesday 27 October and continue to be offered into early November.
How to participate
There are 4 activities to choose from spanning biology, physics, maths and engineering.

A day in the life of a Marine Biologist
Date: Wednesday 27 October
Time: 9:00am – 9:45am
Have you ever wondered what it’s like living at sea? In this online workshop, your students will learn all about the life of a marine biologist at sea.
This activity is best suited for students in Years 8–11.
Hydrogen energy future
Date: Thursday 28 October
Time: 9:00am – 9:45am
What does Australia's renewable energy future look like? Will it be solar, wind, hydro-power or perhaps Hydrogen gas? Hydrogen is the most common chemical in the universe. It can be produced as a gas or liquid, or made part of other materials. With the world scrambling to meet carbon-zero goals, will Australia turn to Hydrogen in an efficient and timely manner?
This activity is best suited for students in Years 10–11.
Holiday among the stars
Date: Tuesday 2 November
Time: 9:00am – 9:45am
Have you ever looked up to the sky at night and wondered if we could live up there? Let us take you on a physics trip through the universe and stop off at some of the places we could or could not go on holiday, look at the viability of Earth analogue planets we could one day inhabit, and discuss possible jobs involved in settling on a new planet.
This activity is best suited for students in Years 8–11.
What’s a Mathematician’s favourite food? Pi!

So what are you ever actually going to use maths for? Use it for really? Well come and find out! A look at the application of higher level mathematics in the real world and the many varied and wondrous places it can take you.
