Quantum materials scientists at the University of Adelaide explore the interaction of light with semiconductor materials and device structures.
The University of Adelaide launched its Quantum Materials Strategy in 2021. The School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences contributes significantly to this strategy through its research portfolios in optics and photonics, and quantum modelling.
Collaborative research is being conducted across the:
- School of Chemical Engineering
- Adelaide Microscopy
- School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
- Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing
- Department of Defence
This exciting new work is being done at the intersection the traditional disciplines of optics and photonics, advanced materials, quantum modelling and electronics.
Established quantum materials technology has been utilised in the construction of semiconductors used widely in the electronic devices used in our every day lives.
