The University of Adelaide is proud to be a member of the SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre (CRC), a consortium of universities and research organisations, partnered with industry to develop know-how and technologies in advanced telecommunications and IoT connectivity, intelligent satellite systems and Earth observation next generation data services.
About the SmartSat CRC
The SmartSat CRC brings together over 100 national and international partners focused on building Australia’s space industry in industry sectors such as telecommunications, agriculture and natural resources, transport and logistics, mining, and defence and national security.
Partner investment of over $190 million, along with $55 million in Federal Government funding under its Cooperative Research Centres Program provides the CRC with a $245 million research effort over seven years.
Research program
The SmartSat CRC has three integrated research programs:
- Advanced Communications, Connectivity & IoT Technologies
- Advanced Satellite Systems, Sensors & Intelligence
- Next Generation Earth Observation Data Services
These research programs are underpinned by three foundational enablers:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Security & Resilience
- Space Governance
