Where can mechanical engineering take me?

Mechanical engineers design and create things that move. You could apply your skills to make motor vehicles, aircraft systems, engines, pumps, gas turbines, industrial plants, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, manufacturing processes, building services or even space stations.

A mechanical engineering degree opens up a world of opportunity. Among our alumni are: company CEOs; inventors of groundbreaking technology; engineers in some of Australia’s biggest energy projects; designers of Australia’s future submarines; and an astronaut—Andy Thomas, AO.

Our outstanding graduates, all highly motivated life-long learners, have gone on to work in an equally wide range of industries and organisations. These include: the European Space Agency; NASA; the Australian Institute of Sport; Boeing; BAE Systems; Santos; SAAB; and AGL.
