Teletraffic Research Centre
The expertise of the former Teletraffic Research Centre has now been placed within the School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences.
The School now has the capacity to conduct state-of-the-art research, commercial and development activities in the following areas:
- Communication Engineering: we design and optimise state-of-the-art communication systems focusing on their robustness, reliability, effectiveness, efficiency, and security.
- Complex Systems Analysis: we apply advanced statistical and stochastic techniques to sectors such as social networks, financial markets, urban development, plant structures, etc. Our work has relevance in applications such as defence, infrastructure and transport, trade, management, and manufacturing, among others.
- Data Analytics: our experts analyse real-world data to predict future outcomes using machine learning, testing alternative business scenarios and A/B comparisons. We build system and network models to optimise performance. We support decision-making processes through visualisations that reveal hidden patterns, structures, and trends.
