    Field-based learning

Field trips in the School of Biological Sciences span the breadth of ecology and evolutionary biology with many opportunities available for students to undertake course-related field trips in Year 2 and 3 of their degree program. These trips range from two to five days and cover courses related to Animal Identification and Wildlife Conservation, Fresh Water Ecology and Spatial Information and Land Evaluation in the first half of the year, followed by Ecological Issues, Marine Ecology, Evolutionary Biology and Field Palaeontology in the second half of the year.

Field trips are an essential component of the learning and teaching process, providing hands-on experience, and led by our passionate academic staff. Students gain first-hand knowledge within the course content.
