Research funding to boost Australia's capacity in nuclear theory
Here's your digest of CSSM in the news for 2018.
2018 December
- As part of the exhibition "Waging Peace" at UniSA's Museum of Discovery, CSSM staff member Dr Paddy McGee has provided visualisations of satellite orbits for the "Orbitopia" section of the exhibition. The exhibition will run until April 2019.
2018 November
- Dr. Jonathan Hall, a former CSSM student and Research Fellow, has been included in the Top 10 Innovators under 35 in the Asia Pacific Region by MIT Technology Review for his work in the application of AI techniques to improving in vitro fertilisation success.
2018 April
- GPU technology: Dr. Waseem Kamleh outlines the importance of Graphics Processing Units in the development of QCD calculations by CSSM researchers. Read how NCI's facilities are helping our research.
2018 February
- ARC funding: in the November 2017 announcement of Discovery Projects 2018 round 1, CSSM director Professor Tony Thomas (with three colleagues from other institutions) was successful in obtaining a three-year grant for $371,950. The project aims to leverage Australian capacity in nuclear theory to produce the first predictive model with a modern realistic nuclear interaction, with regards to the structure and interactions of atomic nuclei in terms of their microscopic constituents.
