A joint success
The School of Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE) is proud to celebrate the achievements of our first graduands from the Joint Education Program between Nantong University, PRC, and the University of Adelaide.
Our first cohort have completed their Bachelor of Architectural Design and it was delightful to celebrate this milestone, in an informal graduation ceremony, with the first and second cohorts of students who joined us in 2022 and 2023 respectively. The ceremony brought together students, academic staff members and a terrific professional team, led by Ashleigh and Lu - who continue to support and enable this exciting Program.
This Joint Education Program, approved by the Ministry of Education, PRC, was established in 2018. To complete this Program, students complete Stage 1 (3.5 years) in Nantong and Stage 2 (1.5 years) in Adelaide. Academic staff members from the University of Adelaide teach 4 intensive courses in Nantong during Stage 1. All students who successfully complete the Program receive a Bachelor degree in Architecture from both universities. There are currently more than 200 students enrolled in this Program.
The celebration was opened by Associate Professor Katharine Bartsch (JEP Academic Coordinator), Professor Scott Smith (Deputy Dean International), and Professor Phil Visintin (Interim Head of ACE), and supported by Associate Professor Braden Phillips (Deputy Dean, Learning & Teaching, SET Faculty), Mr Phillip Fredericks (Associate Director of Global Partnerships) and Ms Kristina Qiu (Regional Manager, China, of International Recruitment). I also acknowledge the amazing teaching team who have contributed to the foundation and delivery of this program, including Adjunct Professor George Zillante, Professor Jian Zuo, Professor Veronica Soebarto, Dr Amit Srivastava, Dr Ehsan Sharifi, Dr Larissa Arakawa Martins, Dr Armin Mehdipour, Dr Jessica Huang, Associate Professor Peter Scriver, Han Cheng, Madeline Nolan, Mirai Morita, Dr Carlos Bartesaghi-Koc, Stewart Caldwell, Athanasios Lazarou, Timothy Siebert, Dr Namrata Vishwasrao and Jianxin Sun.
