Students to compete in prestigious International Warman Design and Build Competition in October 2024

Electrical and Mechanical Engineering students won local Design and Build Competition to progress to international stage.

Congratulations to the students at the University of Adelaide who won the local Warman Design and Build competition on Friday 19 July. The successful Electrical and Mechanical Engineering student team are now eligible to represent the university in the world-renowned International Warman Competition on 26 and 27 October this year.

Nine teams participated in a local version of the competition, which was held on Friday 19 July in the ‘Creation Studio’ of North Terrace campus and was expertly coordinated by Eyad Hassan. Guest judges from industry included representatives from Applidyne Engineering and Boeing Australia, as enthusiastic sponsors.

The next stage, the International Warman Design and Build Competition, is taking place on 26 and 27 October will be held virtually. In this competition students are required to design a device, within space and mass constraints, to perform a particular set of tasks.

Participation in this extra-curricular activity is offered to level II Mechanical engineering students although Electrical engineering students have also participated in the past. The University of Adelaide has an excellent track record in this competition having won the competition in 1997 and 2008.
