Labs and Workshops

We have a number of shared labs and a workshop that support our schools to deliver on their learning and teaching, research objectives, as well as for industry engagement.

These labs and workshop spaces can be utilised by Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Technology staff and students. You may still use these facilities if you are not a SET staff or student.

  • Labs, machines and structures

    The Labs, Machines and Structures team supports teaching and research activities in the following areas:

    • structures
    • concrete mix design and testing
    • concrete mechanical and environmental testing
    • vibration and earthquake testing of structures
    • geotechnical
    • mining
    • environment
    • hydraulics
  • Labs, process and controls

    The Labs, Process and Controls team supports teaching and research activities in the following areas:

    • teaching labs (i.e. CARM Lab and EEE Labs)
    • general electronics and microcontrollers
    • instrumentation
    • data acquisition
    • process control
    • robotics and automation
  • Workshop

    The Workshop team supports teaching and research activities by manufacturing components and assemblies using the following processes in a range of materials:

    • CNC machining
    • 3D printing
    • compositing manufacture
    • fabrication
    • welding
    • water jet and laser cutting
    • general fitting and turning
  • Log a lab or workshop request
