Seeking an M.Phil student to join the Biometry Hub

The Biometry Hub is seeking a Masters of Philosophy student to join our team!

We are looking for a student to undertake a Masters of Philosophy at the Biometry Hub. The project is Quantitative analysis of reproductive growth in spring barley supervised by Dr Julian Taylor, Dr Helena Oakey & Associate Professor Matthew Tucker.

By understanding the fine details of floral tissue development, their contribution to grain development and their responsiveness to stress, Australian researchers and breeders will be better placed to generate cultivars with more robust and sustainable yields in the years ahead. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in statistics and well developed computational skills particularly in R with an interest in the application of statistics to genetics. This project is supported by a scholarship from the Grains Research and development Corporation (GRDC) at the rate of $28000 per year and includes $5000 operational fund for the duration of the project.

The successful candidate will join an active and vibrant research team in the project Statistics for the Australian Grains Industry (SAGI-STH) and enjoy the benefit of a professional and encouraging collegial environment.

The application is open for Australian domestic applicants only.
