Lactation oestrus and breeding in sows
Scientists at Roseworthy campus have pig reproduction projects available for students to complete honours research in animal science.
Using a modified hormone protocol, lactating sows will be induced to ovulate and be inseminated at a fixed time.
The success of the ovulation induction protocol and sow fertility to the insemination will be assessed. If successful, this would permit longer lactations to the benefit of piglet performance.
