University of Adelaide showcases leadership in Software Security at ESEM 2024
3 full research papers accepted at 18th International Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering and Measurement 2024.
The CREST group led by Professor Ali Babar and Dr Triet Le within the School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences has had 3 full research papers accepted at the International Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering and Measurement (ESEM) 2024.
This recognition marks one of the highest numbers of accepted papers on Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence for Software Security and Vulnerability Analytics from a single university at ESEM 2024.
ESEM 2024 which will take place from Sunday 20 October to Friday 25 October 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. The titles of the 3 papers are as follows:
- Automated Code-centric Software Vulnerability Assessment: How Far Are We? An Empirical Study in C/C++
- Automatic Data Labeling for Software Vulnerability Prediction Models: How Far Are We?
- Mitigating Data Imbalance for Software Vulnerability Assessment: Does Data Augmentation Help?
These research papers contribute to enhancing the performance and reliability of AI-powered solutions that aid developers in the early detection and assessment of vulnerabilities in critical software systems and infrastructures.
This achievement continues CREST’s extensive work in Software Security Intelligence, evidenced by over 50 publications in top-tier (CORE A/A*) conferences and journals in recent years. It highlights the School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences’ capabilities in these areas. It is also a testament to the university’s ongoing multi-year, multi-million-dollar projects funded by the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre – a key partner of the University.
About ESEM
The ACM/IEEE International Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering and Measurement (ESEM) is the premier conference for presenting research results related to empirical software engineering. ESEM provides a stimulating forum where researchers and practitioners can present and discuss recent research results on a wide range of topics, in addition to exchanging ideas, experiences, and challenging problems.
