About Kavita
Kavita is currently studying a Master of Construction Management in the School of Architecture and Built Environment and is intending to focus her research on the management of construction and demolition waste. She is passionate about sustainability, low carbon construction and digital project management.
Over the years, I developed a passion for creating spaces. The future lies with the construction industry in providing appropriate sustainable solutions for migration, co-habitation and mass housing in cities.Kavita Bhandari, Master of Construction Management student
Kavita was first employed as a Junior Architect at the BIM Studio in India. Here, she was entrusted with responsibilities ranging from drafting on Revit (electrical, plumbing and structures), coordinating with multiple consultants to reporting clash detection on Navisworks, as well as visiting construction sites and stated observations, which included a major environmental concern about the disposal of construction waste.
Kavita says, "Living in the second-most populous city in the world widens the infrastructure base – whether urban or rural. The rural landscape shows a lack of basic infrastructure, as seen first-hand on my occasional travels to my native place. Working as an architect at a professional level, I realised how the synergy between designing and building is vital. This is where the real, long-term solutions exist. As an architect and a construction manager, I could visualise – with greater clarity – the two disciplines coming together in perfect harmony."
"In my search for a post-graduate program which blends strong academic program and practical experience, the University of Adelaide stood out. I picked Adelaide as my top choice given the students’ flexibility to tailor the course structure with a balance of architecture and project management. Classes available on Advanced Project Management and Cost and Planning Management particularly sparked my interest, due to my previous exposure to building information modelling (BIM)."
Congratulations again to Kavita for her fantastic achievement.
