Biometry Hot Desk
The Biometry Hub is excited to announce a new "hot-desk" support program for honours and HDR students in the Schools of Agriculture, Food and Wine, and Animal and Veterinary Science.
The hot-desk will provide the opportunity for students to discuss questions and issues relating to statistics and data analytics with a biometrician from the Biometry Hub.
The program is set to start on 6 July 2020, with the hot-desk operating 3 hours a day, each day for 30 weeks of the year, during the university semesters. Each student is allowed up to 2 hours of consultation. The hot-desk sessions will take place either at the Waite Campus, or online. This program is only initially supported in July 2020 – July 2021 courtesy of the University and GRDC investment in the biometry capacity building in the Southern region. A contribution from the Davies Research Centre further expands the data analytics capability of the initiative.
The hot-desk will be operated by five members of the Biometry Hub: Annie Conway, Russell Edson, Peter Kasprzak, Wendy Li and Sam Rogers under guidance from the Director of the Biometry Hub, Dr Olena Kravchuk and other senior statisticians in the Hub. Their expertise and experience covers the areas of experimental design, sampling, data analytics, machine learning, statistical modelling and computing.
HDR students in the schools of AFW and AVS will automatically be added to a MyUni course which can be used for discussions and sharing notes and materials.
